What is Signal?

Signal is an end-to-end encrypted communicator offering secure and private exchange of text messages and files, as well as holding secure video and audio calls.

Signal is an open source project, meaning its source code (including the code of its cryptographic elements) is available publicly, allowing third party code quality auditing. Signal has already received several expert audits which proved the security and privacy of Signal means of communication.

Communication using Signal is secure for civilian use. An external observer cannot access information being exchanged, yet due to Signal internal mechanics, they can determine parties communicating.
